“Shot 1: close-up of an old lighthouse keeper in a wet oilskin coat climbing a spiral iron staircase, a swinging lantern lighting his face, rain hammering the windows. Shot 2: wide shot from the sea as the lighthouse beam sweeps across huge storm waves crashing on the rocks, lightning splits the sky. Rolling thunder and howling wind”

Guide the video with references
References are files Seedance follows without using them as frames: a character's face and outfit, the look of a scene, the rhythm of a camera move, the voice or music you want. ByteDance calls this all-round reference, and it's the main thing Seedance 2.0 added over 1.5.
Each upload gets a name in order — Image 1, Image 2, Video 1, Audio 1. Type @ in the prompt to insert one, then say what it's for: "The character is from Image 1, follow the camera move in Video 1, use Audio 1 as the music".
Clips must be 2–15 seconds and 15 seconds in total per kind. Reference images are included in the price; with a reference video, its seconds are added to the output and billed at a lower rate.
A prompt that uses references: "The woman from Image 1 walks through the market from Image 2, following the camera move in Video 1, with Audio 1 as the music." Give each file one job. Clear, well-lit pictures of a face hold a character best, and a short clip that shows only the move you want copies better than a long one.

Reference to video questions
Choose Reference above, add images, clips or audio, then describe the new video and what each reference is for. Seedance keeps what you point it to and generates the rest.
By upload order: Image 1, Image 2, Video 1, Audio 1. Type @ in the prompt box to pick one, or use the chips under the box.
Up to 9 images, 3 clips and 3 audio files. Clips are 2–15 seconds each and 15 seconds in total; audio needs at least one image or clip.
Add a second, clearer picture of the same person or object from another angle, and name it in the prompt ("the man from Image 1 and Image 2"). Fewer, sharper references usually beat many mixed ones.
Yes. Give each one its own clear picture and name both in the prompt — "the girl from Image 1 talks to the man from Image 2". Say who does what so the model doesn't swap them.
Reference images are free. With a reference video, the uploaded seconds are added to the output seconds and the total is billed at the lower reference rate. The button shows the total.
Image to video uses your picture as the actual first (and last) frame. Reference mode uses pictures and clips as guides, so the video can show the character or scene in a brand-new shot.
They're used only to make your video and deleted 30 days later. Use files you own or have permission to use.
